New Cookbook Coming! – in a while

A few months ago, on my personal Facebook profile, I posted that after a long hiatus from cookbook writing, I was thinking about working on a baking book. In the post, I called it “My pastry table collection” (working title).

For those of you who don’t know my history, my mother Barb started a catering company, Desserts Plus, when I was in elementary school. She started with baking but grew the business into a full catering company.  I was raised in the business, starting with washing dishes and peeling potatoes after school and doing everything else through the years. For the last decade or so before we closed, I did the majority of the baking. I used all of the traditional recipes that my mother taught me, the ones she created and then the ones I developed.

I’ve spent the last few months compiling a lot of our recipes, most of them written for commercial equipment or with instructions that simply said “mix, bake, and assemble”.  I’m now working on testing all the recipes in a home kitchen and writing instructions that other people can follow.

This will take some time, but now that I’ve started in the kitchen, it’s getting exciting! And I’m pretty happy with the first test runs. 😉

Comment below if there’s a tort, tart, cake, dainty, cookie, or anything else you’d like to see in this book.  I’ll see what I can do!

  1. I was thinking about Winnipeg this morning. My “baby” Ariel now 31 asked me for our Winnipeg address as she is starting a new step in her life. We enjoyed 5 years of Desserts Plus
